At long last.. after about a year, my book "FATIMAH - Gadis Desa Srikandi Bangsa" was completed, published by MPH and finally launched by the Menteri Besar of Johor, YAB Dato' Hj Abdul Ghani Othman on the 13th August 2009 at the Puteri Pacific Hotel, Johor Bahru.

The book is a comprehensive biography on the life of Yang Amat Berbahagia DATUK DATIN PADUKA HAJJAH FATIMAH BINTI HJ. ABDUL MAJID. It describes her humble village girl beginnings, her trials and tribulations as she meandered the course of her 90 years of embracing this wondrous journey called life. If Julius Caesar once said that "Experience is the teacher of all things..!", then the same could be said of Datuk Fatimah. Her life's experiences, the sacrifices she had to give since the age of five for the sake of her beloved family, has helped shape the person she came to be, in her adult life.
After having been deprived of her own dreams and aspirations, ironically, marriage was what gave her the ultimate freedom she so craved! Like a captive stream of bulging energy that was finally released, her hungry foray into 'freedom' brought about many first time achievements in Malaya - for Malay women especially!! In an era whereby women were not encouraged to pursue higher education nor even harbour career ambitions, Fatimah proved that, given an equal opportunity, women could also achieve great success and excellence just as the males do, if not even better! She is considered a Srikandi, a brave female warrior to both her people and nation!
In the 60s, when Indonesia wanted to 'ganyang' (destroy) Malaysia and a Confrontation began, Fatimah succeeded in urging several women in Johor to form the first "Pasukan Tentera Wataniah Wanita" or a Voluntary Women Military Corp in the country, to take an active role in defending our beloved nation from the Indonesian aggression. This act of bravery on the part of Fatimah and her team, was enough to 'put a feather in her cap' as truly an exquisite act of raw, true and ultimate patriotism!!
Fatimah has received many accolades and achieved great achievements in many areas. Some in areas less trodden by women or by her own people. However, Fatimah has exalted the pride and dignity of women as a whole in Malaysia! She is an inspiration to ALL! She is truly Malaysia's own WOMAN OF SUBSTANCE!!
